By Eadweard Muybridge
London: Chapman & Hall, 1902. Cloth. Very Good. A very presentable copy of this early London edition (1902) of Eadweard Muybridge's seminal study of animal locomotion, captured through the use of the period's most recent strides in the nascent field of photography. Solid and VG in its wine-red cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the front panel and spine. A touch of light wear along the spine ends, mild bubbling --and just a bit of blotching-- to the rear panel, 2 former owner names and dates (the one from 1907 gently crossed out) at the front free endpaper. Oblong quarto, the interior bright and crisp, with one or two exceptions the plates all-but-pristine. Pioneering work in turn-of-the-century photography.
