Deckled fore and bottom edges. Extremities moderately rubbed and bumped. Small red stain on rear board of "Dream Days." Contemporary names and notations on the front free endpapers. Front hinges just a tad soft. Rear endpaper of first volume cracked along the hinge. The illustration at p. 92 in "The Golden Age" is just barely beginning to detach at the foot. "The Golden Age" and its companion volume "Dream Days." Complete, with 26 full-page illustrations and illustrated title pages by Maxfield Parrish.
Before the age of 30, Maxfield Parrish had worked as an illustrator and poster designer for Harper's Weekly, Scribner's Magazine, Ladies' Home Journal and the National Weekly. Parrish took full advantage of the new technologies in color reproduction and established himself as the master of fantasy and romance. He quickly became one of the best designers in what has been referred to as the "golden age of illustration.
