Very Good/Good +. 36pp. Very slim quarto [26 cm] Rust-colored cloth over boards with the photographer's name stamped in black ink on the front board. The very edges of the spine and boards are just a hair dulled. With the bookplate and name in pen of U. S. Army Captain James Withrow Ewing on the front endpaper. The front endpaper also has a bookseller's ticket and the date "5-20-46" in pen. In the dust jacket, with a 5" long torn area to the top edge, which has been backed with tape. Another short tear has been backed with tape as well. California photographer Edward Henry Weston (1886-1958) was one of the most prominent American photographers of the 20th century and a major contributor in the shaping of the history of the medium. Throughout his 40-year career, Weston photographed a wide range of subjects including landscapes, still lifes, nudes, portraits, and depictions of everyday life. He was the first photographer to receive a Guggenheim Fellowship (1937).
