A pivotal work in the Gothic and science fiction genres, written by English romantic novelist Mary Wollenstonecraft Shelley (1797-1851). The work was first published in 1818. Often considered as one of the first science fiction novels, it is the story of a scientific genius who brings to life a horrifying monster that persecutes his creator. Shelley's story has been adapted countless times and has influenced pop culture immensely.
