This Nineteen Volume Collection is from the library of noted poet, translator, and anthropologist Nathaniel Tarn (1928-2024), with his pictorial bookplate to the front pastedown of most volumes (it is lacking in Volumes 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, and Supplement Volume 1), and his pencilled notes in many volumes.

Volume 1-16 are overall Very Good in Very Good (spine-faded) dustwrappers; there is modest rubbing to board edges, and light off-setting to pastedowns and endpapers. The Supplement to the Handbook of Middle American Indians Volume 1 Archaeology has trace soil to edges of textblock; Very Good+. Volume 2 Linguistics has Trace soil; Very Good+. Volume 3 Literatures is Near Fine.

Collection focuses on the social history of Indigenous Middle Americans, with research on ethnohistory, linguistics, clothing, and rituals. Volume editors include Evon Z. Vogt, T.
