An early printing (from 1955) of volume 1, and stated first edition of volume 2, both inscribed by the author. Remarkably scarce Shy Stegosaurus series pair set against the backdrop of fossil hunting, and saving the Joan & Joey Brown's family ranch in Eastern Oregon. The second book is set against the backdrop of a young Klickitat Indian boy, twins Joan & Joey Brown again, and Stegosaurus George determined to attend the Huckleberry festival. Lampman (1907-1980) wrote and published 37 children's books over her long writing career, and often featured educational themes, difficult subjects, and focused on the darker aspects of Pacific Northwest history, exposing bigotry, misogyny, and the plights of Native Americans, Asian-Americans, and other minorities.
