What You Should Know About Tuberculosis
- New York, New York: National Tuberculosis Association, 1946
New York, New York: National Tuberculosis Association, 1946. Good to very good. Toning, dust soiling.. An educational booklet for American families, penned by the Director of Health Education at the National Tuberculosis Association and published in 1946. The booklet is divided into different "questions" and "answers", written in a friendly style free of complex medical jargon that may confuse the average American. Questions answered in this booklet include: "What caused my TB?"; "Will YB attack anything besides the lungs?"; "What do chest X-Rays tell us?"; "Where is the freshest air in the U.S.A.?"; "How long will it take me to get well?"; and "Where can I get further advice?". Note the answer to the question "What about homemakers?" on page 27, which reminds readers that women are people too and also need care, in addition to men and children. Also, they might get other people sick, so they should take care of themselves for that reason. Single vol. (8.25" by 5.25"), pp. 30, with in-text line drawings to make the subject more approachable and less frightening to families.
