On the case of Roberts, charged with shooting a policeman; cover photo shows Newton speaking in his defense at a 1986 rally. Also notes that Newton, who was already temporarily in prison on a gun charge from a decade earlier, was going to be charged with embezzlement, destroying records, and other activities - "Not because he committed a crime, but because he is the person who organized the Black Panther Party and stood up for the rights of Black people.
