Good. 464pp. Vigesimoquarto (24mo) [12 cm] Full brown striated leather with decorative gilt ruled borders to boards and backstrip. Title gilt stamped on backstrip (L.D.S. Hymns). All edges gilt. Floral endpapers. Upper front joint neatly dabbed with glue. Loss from head of backstrip measuring 1/4" deep. Small chip to leather at foot of spine. Rear endpaper cracked along the hinge (cords holding). Just over half of the rear free endpaper has been torn out. Large loss from p. 271/72. Very occasional light soiling or minor marks in pencil to the pages. Insignificant damp stains here and there to the page edges. Contemporary owner's name, address, and date written in pen and pencil on the verso of the front free endpaper ("George H. Dansie / Riverton / Utah / Oct 30 / 1896"). George Henry Dansie (1866-1935) was a farmer and sheep raiser, who accepted a mission call to Great Britain. Flake 1782. From the preface to the Twenty-First Edition-

"In this edition will be found a metrical index which the book formerly did not contain. This feature will be especially valuable to choirs. A few hymns have also been added to the end of the volume. That these additions may prove acceptable to the public, and that the book may continue its cheering and consoling mission indefinitely, is the desire of THE PUBLISHERS.
