London: Herbert Jenkins Limited. Poor. 1935. First Edition. Hardcover. (lacking the original dust jacket, but encased in a professionally-made facsimile reproduction of same; see 2nd image posted with this listing) [very worn, essentially a reading copy only, with extensive fading to spine cloth, a 3-inch rip at the upper rear hinge, spine turned, external spotting/soiling, vintage bookplate on front pastedown, etc.]. A collection of a dozen of the author's short stories, featuring many of his popular characters. The first six take place at Blandings Castle, and feature the Earl of Emsworth, his sister Lady Constance, his son Freddie, his butler Beech, and his prize pig, "The Empress of Blandings." The last five are presented under the heading "The Mulliners of Hollywood," take place in the movie colony, and are narrated by Mr. Mulliner. One more (the "Elsewhere") in concerned with Bobbie Wickham, the sometimes fiancee of another Wodehouse regular, Bertie Wooster (although Bertie himself does not put in an appearance). NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, to serve the dual purpose of protecting the book from further wear and enhancing its appearance on the shelf; its presence has not been factored in to our pricing. .
