In his bibliography "A Selection of Early Mormon Hymnbooks 1832-1872: Hymnbooks and Broadsides from the First 40 Years of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Tucson, Arizona, 2011), Shane Chism estimates 1871 Liverpool editions of the hymnbook at runs of 2,000 to 3,000 copies, though no exact records have been found. The fifteenth edition differs from the thirteenth edition in the addition, at the conclusion of the volume, of fourteen hymns. These fourteen hymns are reprinted in the October 3, 1871 issue of the Millennial Star.
"PREFACE TO THE FIFTEENTH EDITION.- To supply the demand in Utah, Elder George Q. Cannon published the fourteenth edition of the Hymn Book at the Church Printing Office in Salt Lake City, using type cast in the foundry connected with that office, and adding fourteen Hymns at the end of the collection.
"In this edition there is no variation from the fourteenth, thus, as in that, preserving the pages and the numbers of the Hymns uniform with those of the twelfth and thirteenth editions."
Although a reprint of the fourteenth edition (Chism 88), there are two hymn nos. 323. This Liverpool edition was published in the same year as the first LDS hymnbook was published in Utah by George Q. Cannon.
