Alessandro Bausani (Rome , 29 May 1921 – Rome , 12 March 1988) was an Italian Islamist , Arabist, Iranian scholar, historian of religions and translator, one of the greatest Italian scholars of Islam, translator and commentator of one of the most important Italian-language versions of the Koran, glottotheist and Esperantist. The Brothers of Purity...Their esoteric teaching and philosophy are expounded in an epistolary style in their Encyclopedia of the Brethren of Purity (Ras il Ikhw n al- af ), a gigantic compendium of 52 epistles that greatly influenced subsequent encyclopedias in the Islamic world.
