By British Solomon Islands Protectorate
1939. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. An extremely scarce publication issued by the Government of His Majesty's High Commission for the Western Pacifc. The publication amassed detailed and extensive data about the Solomon Islands. Sections include revenue and expenditure, assets and liabilities, municipalities, public works, legislation, executive and legislative councils, population and vital statistics, currency, imports and exports, shipping, criminal statistics, ports and harbours, and much more. The result is a valuable source of all the information available at that time and compiled about the Solomon Islands. This was a holding of the War Office Library with its stamp on the title page, and a label on the back of the cover stating that Books of the War Office Library are to be issued only to officers and officials of the War Office, which was located in London. Bound in stiff gray paper covers with titling and a library stamp on the front cover and a black cloth spine, which has cloth torn away on the rear cover. Some soiling and staining on both covers and what appears to be a blue ink stain on the rear cover. Text pages are clean and bright. A very good copy of this rarity. Measures 8.25 x 13 inches. 149 pages. SOUTHPAC/110525.
