1928. unbound. fine. 4 pages. 4to, Red Bank, Feb. 19. 1928. He considers her "a natural writer, who ought to be encouraged to keep on writing" but feels she has identified too much with her heroine. "The prime ambition of the novelist should be to remain as impartial as God..." He goes on to criticize the book in detail, gives advice on methods of writing and suggests authors to read, though not to emulate. An important letter, embodying much of Wilson's critical philosophy, in kindly but stringent advice to a young author.
