[ART] TURNER AND GIRTIN’S PICTURESQUE VIEWS SIXTY YEARS SINCE: WITH THIRTY ENGRAVINGS OF THE OLDEN TIME
- Hard Cover
- London: J. Hogarth, 1854
London: J. Hogarth, 1854. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Quarto; in publisher’s bright green embossed cloth, with faded gilt stamping of a rather charming fountain to the front board, and titling to the spine; there is some wear to the extremities, and mylar has been cut to protect the binding; mostly a clean copy, though is a bit of quite scattered foxing; the plates appear clean.~~Turner and Girtin were friendly rivals -- this work is certainly even-handed with 15 full-page engravings by Turner and 15 by Girtin, with a tailpiece drawing by Girtin and a frontispiece of Turner by Count d’Orsay. Folding facsimile letter by Turner, and 2 additional facsimile Turner letters. Very Good binding.
