Front wrap, title page, and first page of text beginning to detach at the foot. Corners of wraps creased. Small losses from the spine ends. Flake 3879. From the library of George Godfrey, with his name in pencil on the front wrap and title page. This is perhaps the George Godfrey (1845-1926) of Fielding, Box Elder County, Utah. The testimony of James Holt Haslam (1825-1913), the messenger who delivered a letter to Brigham Young from local militia leader and President of Cedar City, Utah Isaac C. Haight on September 10, 1857. Young sent a reply to Haight that day, however his message did not arrive in time, and the Mountain Meadows Massacre had already occurred.
