The Broadway revival of Dracula premiered at the Martin Beck Theater (now the Al Hirschfeld Theatre) in 1977. It featured set and costumes designed by author and illustrator Edward Gorey. Upon the show’s debut, a New York Times theater critic wrote that Gorey “dominates the production,” far outshining the acting. Later that year, Gorey was nominated for Tony Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Scenic Design, the former of which he won. Along with photographs of the production, this playbill includes thumbnails of Gorey’s costume illustrations. Find inside also quintessentially 70s advertisements for cigarettes, airlines, alcohol, and women’s fashion.
