Something Wicked This Way Comes (Signed bookplate)
- SIGNED
- New York: Simon & Schuster, 1962
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1962. First edition. Fine/Fine. With a bookplate signed by Ray Bradbury laid in. A Fine copy in like dust jacket. Jacket price-clipped, otherwise a virtually pristine example of both the book and the jacket.
When a nightmarish carnival visits a small Midwestern town, two teen boys embark on a journey to confront dark and evil temptations. Bradbury's dark fantasy novel was adapted into the 1983 film of the same name, and influenced writers including Stephen King (who analyzed the novel at length in his 1981 book Danse Macabre) and Neil Gaiman.
The laid-in bookplate duplicates the cover design of Something Wicked This Way Comes, with text reading "Halloween 2008 this way comes" and the initials "RB." Bradbury was well-known in the Los Angeles area for his lively Halloween parties, and this signed bookplate may have been a party favor given to local attendees at the 2008 event. Fine in Fine dust jacket.
