Some light bumping and scuffing to spine ends and extremities, tight and strong, internally clean and fresh, bookplate to front pastedown, inscription to recto front flyleaf with a further inscription to verso half title, red topstain, isolated pencil annotation; in a strong example of the cream and burgudy dustjacket with some soiling to edges, and some light toning to the spine panel. A very good copy.
From the library of Nathaniel Tarn, noted poet, translator, and anthropologist, with his bookplate. Inscribed to Tarn and his wife by Portuguese poet Alberto de Lacerda:
"To Patricia and Michael (ie: nathaniel), with warmest wishes of happiness and fond love from Alberto, London, June 1956"
There is an additional inscription from Tarn to the verso of the half title:
"Alberto de Lacerda, poet in love with me, gave this to us as a wedding present , N.T. 10.01.2021
