San Francisco and New York: Paul Elder & Company, 1908. Very good. Light toning.. A charming printed card, illustrating a humorous poem by the beloved contributor to Punch, J. Ashby-Sterry (1836-1917). The artist is signed "R.C.". The image shows a curmudgeonly old man in a powdered wig, grimacing as a smiling man carves a turkey. The poem shows the happy thoughts of his relatives interspersed with his own cynical thoughts about the spread. Measures approx. 4.25" by 7" Around the groaning Christmas board,
(Which never equals expectations,)
Where old and young are in accord-
(I hate the most of my relations!)
I view the turkey with delight,
(A tough old bird beyond all question!)
A blazing pudding- what a sight!
('Tis concentrated indigestion!).
