By Morrison, Toni
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1987. First edition. Fine/Fine. A Fine copy. Unclipped dust jacket a bit smudged to front panel, else Fine. A very attractive example.

Morrison's powerful novel of guilt, sacrifice, and redemption won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988. Chronicling the life of a Black woman named Sethe during and after her enslavement, the novel has become a modern classic and a landmark in Black feminist literature. In 1993, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Morrison, “who in novels characterized by visionary force and poetic import, gives life to an essential aspect of American reality” (Nobel Foundation). Beloved was a major factor in Morrison being chosen for the award. The novel was also adapted into a 1998 film starring Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover. Fine in Fine dust jacket.
