By Simic, Charles
San Francisco: Kayak Press, 1967. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good. Illustrated by Joan Abelson. Limited to 1000 copies, with an additional TLS from Simic to fellow poet Stu McCarrell. Very Good. Wraps toned and with some stray marks and stains. Firmly bound with two staples, toned pages, clean otherwise. The first collection from the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet. Interestingly, in the letter he expresses his disappointment with the design of the book. He also notes his disappointment with Robert Bly's latest release, lamenting that "[Bly] writes every poem with Neruda and Trakl in mind." Judging by the timing of the letter, it's likely Simic is referring to The Light Around the Body, which won the National Book Award.
