Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1904. Cloth. Very Good. 1904 Governmental study of both the Negro population and the Negro farmer at the turn-of-the-century. A solid, VG copy in its navy-blue cloth, with bright silver-titling and ornament to the front panel. Light wear at the spine crown, mild creasing along the fore-edges. Interesting handwritten copying of parts of Table 10 ("Negro Population, Continental U.S.A.", pgs. 122-123) along the front pastedown, a single sheet (written on both sides) of a handwritten letter addressing this book laid-in as well. Tall quarto, major turn-of-the-century census of Negro population trends (by region, by gender, by age, by school, "by militia, by illiteracy", etc.).
