An excellent presentation copy signed to the actress Samantha Eggar. Inscribed by Greene in blue ink to the front free endpaper "For Samantha with love from Graham in the year of the great question mark 1961." Eggar's maritime-themed bookplate to the front pastedown. An excellent inscribed example of one of Greene's great works.
This copy from the collection of Samantha Eggar (1939 - 2025), an Academy Award-nominated actress best known for her breakout appearance in The Collector (1965), for which she won Best Actress at Cannes and a Golden Globe, and her starring role in David Cronenberg's cult classic The Brood (1979). Eggar was cast in an adaptation of Greene's The Living Room which ultimately was not made, though Eggar and Greene remained friends. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
