By Waugh, Evelyn
London: Chapman and Hall, 1961. First edition. Near Fine/Near Fine. A signed presentation copy inscribed by the author in black ink to the front free endpaper "For John, the ? of Belgrave Square, with love from Evelyn, I can't see a part for Graham's protégée here I'm afraid." A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. P. 56 and 57 toned, jacket with a little minor dust-soiling. A bright copy of the book with a tantalizing inscription.

From the library of Samantha Eggar (1939 - 2025). Eggar was an Academy Award-nominated actress best known for her breakout appearance in The Collector (1965), for which she won Best Actress at Cannes and a Golden Globe, and her starring role in David Cronenberg's cult classic The Brood (1979). Born in London, Eggar began her career as a Shakespearean actor, before establishing herself in film in the mid-1960s and moving to Los Angeles in 1970. Eggar was also an avid book collector and a friend of the author Graham Greene. Whether the Graham mentioned in this description is Greene we cannot ascertain, but it is certainly possible.

Unconditional Surrender was the final work in the Sword of Honour trilogy, which was adapted for the screen in the 2001 production starring Daniel Craig. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
