Newport, Rhode Island: The Newport Folk Foundation, Inc. / Gilbert Kravette, 1965. Original wraps. Near Fine. The original program for the legendary July 22nd-25th 1965 Newport Folk Festival, in which Bob Dylan famously "went electric" and by doing so shook the folk music world to its core. The program reflects a deep dive into the mid 60s folk music scene, with countless references to the major players of the day and also offers a detailed map to the 4-day festival to come. There's also a 2 pg. article in the program by Bob Dylan called "Off the Top of My Head", as well as other contributions by people like Alan Lomax, Robert Frank, Jim Marshall, John Cohen, Jonathan Shahan, etc. The program, bright and Near Fine in its stapled wrappers, has held up very well. Clean and crisp and, internally, sharp as could be, with no writing or markings to speak of. Design and layout by Judith Dugan and Jonathan Shahn. A very nice piece of 60s ephemera.
