Menasha, Washington: Gilbert Paper Company, 1925. Hardcover. Cloth spine. Pastedown on board of paper with leather-like texture and appearance. Near Fine. As befitting a paper company brochure, the paper used, the typology and overall production values separate this from the run-of-the-mill trade catalogue of the day. We can't be sure this was issued in 1925, but the values given in a table are dated 1925, so we are relying on that as at worst, approximate. 4to. 31 by 23 cm. Unpaginated, 15 leaves. Blank leaf, title page with verso having an illustration of Gilbert Paper's plant, one page history of the company, ten pages devoted to the company's paper products, each receiving one or two pages, and besides a description of the paper, a list of the distributors of that paper. On each of these pages is also a green tinted small illustration of some part of the company's plant. The rest of the brochure is more technical information about the products, or a page of fine print about "Paper Trade Custom", which is basically a glossary of the terms of art used by the industry. The last leaf is a large fold-out table -- two vertical folds, one horizontal fold, the table attached to the brochure with a tab. OCLC First Search shows the Wisconsin Historical Society holding archives from this company, and the archives may contain this publication. The company was acquired by Mead Corporation in 1960. What had been the company's plant ceased operation entirely in 2001. Otherwise, no evidence of any institution having a copy. Our copy is overall quite lovely, The title label centerpiece on the front cover has incidental rubbing and wear, and the spine shows minor wear. The interior is clean, tight.
