TOO BAD GALAHAD

  • Toronto: The Coach House Press, 1972
By Cohen, Matt; Hathaway, Margaret
Toronto: The Coach House Press, 1972. First edition. Very good plus.. A somewhat surreal retelling and reimagining of Arthurian legends surrounding Galahad. Although at first glance the illustrations appear to carry the stylistic authority of both illuminated manuscripts and Albrecht Durer, they are actually quite comical and lighthearted. Similarly, the trials and tribulations of Galahad are told in a humorous, almost childlike tone. 8.5'' x 7''. Original pictorial wrappers. Red and black illustrated title page with six full-page black and red illustrations and seven smaller black-and-white ornaments throughout. [24] pages. Wrappers have a bit of a curve; light scuffing to edges. Else sound and bright.
