By Underwood & Underwood
New York: Underwood & Underwood, 1900. Unbound. Very Good. NOT ELIGIBLE FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. Includes 355 stereo cards. It is difficult to know with certainty which cards were originally sold with this cabinet, but some (the Rochester, New York views specifically) appear to be miscellaneous views not original to it. One drawer pull missing, one pull missing its label, other pulls and Underwood & Underwood name plate intact, top drawer isn't sitting into upper pegs of drawer beneath (wood has probably shrunk or expanded to affect the fit). 1900 Unbound. Includes images of various countries: 104 of Italy; 23 of Palestine; 31 miscellaneous United States (6 New York State); 7 of Holland; 66 of Switzerland (including Alps); 75 of Germany; 13 of Belgium; with 30 miscellaneous European views. Underwood & Underwood was a producer and distributor of stereoscopic and other photographic images, and later was a pioneer in the field of news bureau photography. Around 1900, Underwood & Underwood introduced boxed sets, with specific themes, such as education and religion, and travel sets depicting popular tourist areas of the world. In 1920 stereograph production was discontinued, so this set was produced somewhere during that twenty-year period.
