London: Raphael Tuck & Sons, Ltd, 1902. Pictorial boards. Very Good. Alan Wright. Folio, circa 1902. Part of a long line of wonderful color-plate children's books issued by Raphael Tuck of London. Cloth-backed pictorial boards, light cover soiling, edge and corner wear, else clean, tight and VG. The crazy adventures of King Wallypug of Why, who must do what his country wants -- even down to asking if he can have a haircut. The story is cleverly told in verse. There are 12 fanciful, first-rate full-page chromolithographs plus large 3-color illustrations on every page of text, all done by Alan Wright. A lovely turn-of-the-century picture book, quite scarce in nice condition.
