By Morley, Christopher; Rackham, Arthur
London and New York: William Heinemann & Doubleday Page, 1925. Overall near fine.. Signed limited edition of this tale of urban dogs by the revered journalist and author of THE HAUNTED BOOKSHOP — one of only 100 numbered copies for the United States signed by both Rackham and Morley. The characters in the story are all humanized dogs, starring Gissing and his Japanese Butler, a pug named Fuji. Unlike this American issue, the British issue is signed only by Rackham. Scarce, especially in the original slipcase. 11'' x 8''. Original quarter cloth, patterned metallic paper boards, paper spine label with limitation number in ink (matching the number on the limitation page). Illustrated by Rackham with 4 beautiful and unusual color plates plus 16 fanciful line drawings in addition to a pictorial title page and pictorial endpapers. 227, [1] pages. Good slipcase worn and repaired at edges. Book fine.
