St. John's Gate, London: D. Henry, 1770. Original wraps. Very Good. An historic, full-page trial report in this Dec. 1770 issue of the Gentleman's Magazine (of London), in which it's reported British Captain Thomas Preston was defended by none other than John Adams -- and ultimately acquitted in the October 1770 trial of all charges leveled against him for presiding over the March 5th 1770 "Boston Massacre". Beyond this there's a notable fold-out, nicely-engraved map of Constantinople ("A Plan of Constantinople, Places adjacent and Canal of the Black Sea") appearing in this issue. Wear along the spine, covers lacking, still though bright and very presentable.
