Between 1982-1984, John Bryan irregularly published 16 issues of a newspaper called San Francisco's Appeal To Reason, containing a mix of anti-establishment writing, local reportage, and a clear focus on peace and draft resistance. Contents of this issue are heavily oriented towards issues facing the Bay Area's Black residents. It includes contributions by Ishmael Reed, Bob Kaufman (his poems, and a big spread about his life and work), Jack Micheline, Margo St. James, an interview with Gil Scott-Heron, and a mammoth (23" x 30") centerfold spread by R. Crumb called "Trash: what do we throw away?" (soon to appear in Weirdo: The Magazine of Modern Misfits).
