Mario Toral Muñoz, painter, engraver and photographer. He was born in Santiago, Chile, on February 12, 1934. With a restless and adventurous spirit, at the age of sixteen he set out to study art in Paris on his own. After leaving home and traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, he collected money with the one who traveled to Uruguay to enroll in the afternoon courses at the School of Fine Arts in Montevideo. In that country he received a teaching strongly marked by the constructivist current led by the teacher Joaquín Torres García. In 1957 he fulfilled his dream of traveling to France, where he specialized in engraving techniques at the Henri Adam Workshop at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and where he later obtained different scholarships that allowed him to prolong his stay. In 1965 he participated in the Calendar The Signs of the Zodiac of the Editorial Lord Cochrane. Between 1973 and 1992 he settled in New York where he developed a production that meant he was present in exhibitions and private and public collections in the world. He has been a professor of painting and engraving at the Catholic University and a member of Taller 99 of engraving.
