Collection of the early b/w photography (1940's-60's) of Thomaz Farkas (b. 1924, Hungary; naturalized as Brazilian citizen in 1949). He was a founder of the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo and was the director of the Bienal de São Paulo. Known for photography that expresses ambiguity between abstract and figurative and that explores the textures of daily life in Brazil. The photographs are divided by location into three sections; Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo.
