New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons. Very Good+. 1938. 1st U.S. edition. Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [good solid copy, minor bumping at corners, light soiling/browning to page edges]. Early novel by this noted Welsh writer. Set in a mining community, it's a fictionalized treatment of the early life of Welsh composer Joseph Parry (1841-1903), "who rose from the back-breaking work of a miner to become a world famous composer, one of Wales' most glorious sons" (quoting from a description of a later biography of Parry, "Off to Philadelphia in the Morning," by the same writer). Very scarce in a vintage edition. .
