Rosalie "Rollie" McKenna (1918-2003) was an American photographer known especially for photographs of poets and writers. Among those she photographed were Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, Dylan Thomas, Truman Capote, W. H. Auden, T. S. Eliot, Edith Sitwell, Seamus Heaney, Ted Hughes, John Minton, and Ezra Pound, She also photographed other celebrities, including Eleanor Roosevelt, Leonard Bernstein, and James Earl Jones. This photographic biography details her early days being raised in the South, attending Vassar College, and finally developing her love for photography. In addition to portrait photography, she was also very interested in architecture and and the Middle East. She covers chronologically important periods in different places throughout her life. There are special treatments of Dylan Thomas and his family, with whom she spent time; of Kuwait; and of Portraits, which contains photographs of many of the literary personages named above, as well as others.
