By Greider, William
Simon & Schuster, 1992. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Hardcover. William Greider (1936-2019) was an American journalist and author who wrote primarily about economics. After several jobs as a reporter for Midwestern newspapers, he began working for The Washington Post in 1968, and then moved to Rolling Stone magazine (1982-1999), where he was a National Editor. He was also an on-air correspondent for Frontline on PBS. Greider's most well-known work is Secrets of the Temple: How the Federal Reserve Runs the Country (1987). In Who Will Tell the People, Greider addresses what he perceives as the failure of American politics and the faltering of the democratic process itself. He bases this on the realities of power in Washington and the corrupting links between politicians and corporations and the influence of corporate lobbyists. He is concerned that no one represents the people, and voters dismiss elections as meaningless. While this was written over 30 years ago, it certainly has a very contemporary relevance. Octavo. Light blue paper-covered board with dark blue cloth-covered spine. Title in gilt to spine. White dust jacket with title in blue to front and spine panels. Jacket has two small closed tears at top of spine panel, shows slight wear, and has a price sticker of rear panel. Pages are bright and clean. 464 pages, including index. POLSCI/7182.
