By Morgan, Mrs. Lyttleton F.
Baltimore: D.H. Carroll, 1888. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. EXCEPTIONALLY SCARCE. Susan Rigby Dallam Morgan was the wife of Reverend Lyttleton F. Morgan, who was a long-time board member of what was originally the Centenary Biblical Institute (founded 1867), and was renamed to Morgan College in 1890 in his honor after he gave a large endowment to the institution. Susan Morgan died in 1887. The volume is a memorial tribute produced by her husband, with a memoir written by Reverend Morgan. It was printed for private circulation. The poems are predominantly religions in nature. There are two handwritten inscriptions on the front free flyleaf. The second is a note of transfer of the book in 1930. Octavo. Top edge of pages in gilt. Minor rubbing to exterior and bumping to corners and spine ends especially to the foot of spine. Gift inscription, and the following comment: Received this book from Dr. Morgan at whose home I was very often the guest of himself and his estimable wife. Else is clean and bright. 336 pages. Poetry. POE2/9010.
