Charlotte, Santa Barbara: McNally and Loftin, 1962. Hardcover. Near Fine. Hardcover. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. Thad Stem Jr. (1916–1980) was an American poet, author and newspaper columnist who was born in Oxford, North Carolina and lived there all of his life. He wrote or co-wrote 16 books, including several volumes of poetry. He also wrote about 8,000 short pieces for North Carolina newspapers, primarily the Raleigh News and Observer and The Pilot. This volume is a mix of poems followed by prose entries. For the most part the prose pieces are not directly related to the poems, but according to his Invitation, he wants "the prose to be a projection, an extension from the verses." Octavo. Very good in pale green and white paper covered boards with purple title to front board and grey title to spine. Spine somewhat faded, and some slight browning to the top edges. Inscription to front free end page. Else is clean and bright. 66 pages. Poetry. POE4/12050.
