She was the daughter of a professor and accompanied him to St. Petersburg, where she studied languages and science. There she married Émile Durand, a French law professor. They returned to France in 1872. Gréville initially published novels in St. Petersburg journals. She continued to write in France, with the novels Dosia (1876) and L'Expiation de Savéli (1876), depicting Russian society. This copy is the English translation of L'Expiation de Savéli, published in the United States in 1878. VERY SCARCE. Small 8vo. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt title to front board and black title to spine. Minor darkening to spine and minor chipping to spine ends. Interior hinges are starting but binding remains very tight. Text is clean and bright. 206 pp.+catalogue and ads at rear. Literature. LIT2/321.
