Baltimore: The Norman Publishing Co, 1930. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. John H.K. Shannahan (1880-1934) was an amateur historian of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He was born in Easton, Maryland. He was one of the founders of the Eastern Shore Society and later served as its president. He also wrote articles about the Eastern Shore for the Evening Sun and the Sunday Sun newspapers of Baltimore. This is a limited edition publication Signed by the Author. Number 103 of 300 copies. It is subtitled "An Eastern Shore Romance." According to Shannahan's introduction, this publication is in response to the positive feedback toward his earlier articles in the Sunday Sun, which suggested that they "be amplified and published in more permanent form." The book is intended to give a picture of village life on the Eastern Shore in the 1880s. It also contains a novelette, The Hammond Lot, first published in a New York magazine in 1910.
