She is perhaps best know for her reports an sexual attitudes in South Pacific and Southeast Asian traditional cultures. Her positions were often controversial in academic circles. Among her many projects and positions, she briefly worked for the RAND Corporation from 1948-50. RAND is a research organization and think tank best known for its work for the US military and for its famous employee Daniel Ellsberg. This work is a result of her tenure there and is part of The RAND Series presenting its research efforts. The work includes sections on the Soviet system of authority, Soviet Ideals of authority, Soviet official expectations, and the role of the political police. A very interesting historical piece. The first edition is very scarce in the US. Octavo. Grey cloth-covered boards with title in blue to front cover and spine. Pages are slightly yellowed but clean, with a few check marks on pages.
