1890. 10 x 12 x 2 1/4"; weight 25 lbs. 1 vols. A slab of finely-grained limestone, polished both sides, edges roughly trimmed , sides painted red, ends numbered, chip to one corner not affecting image, a few minor scratches (see below), else in very good condition. 10 x 12 x 2 1/4"; weight 25 lbs. 1 vols. This stone was used for the printing of cigar box labels, and bears six images:

Side One: (a) A 5 x 6" design, being an elaborate monogram within a frame, flanked by two circular medals and foilage, lettered above "Gentlemen" and below "For Gentlemen", with the lithographer's notation "gold", a little rubbed with one scratch; (b) An outline of the design (omitting the lower legend), with the notation "green", very slightly rubbed, near fine.

Side Two: Four depictions of the same woman's head in profile, two of them with floral borders (4 x 6 1/2"), two without (1 1/2 x 2"), for progressive printing, one, reverse, image labeled "buff"; all in fine condition.

Unique, and a fine example of the commercial lithographer's art.
