probably Dutch, mid 18th century. 1 vols. 5 x 2-1/2 inches. Fine. 1 vols. 5 x 2-1/2 inches. A charming and curious work. The sole-like fish, its body engraved and chased, is hinged at the head, which opens to reveal a perfume container; the tail, indecipherably hallmarked, is composed of six jointed segments, giving it a naturalistic flexibility, and the entire piece is a tactile delight.
