With a pencil sketch laid down and tipped in, initialled "RW" and captioned in a different hand on the support sheet, "Dr. Dodd's daughter visits him whilst in prison." Despite the intercession of Dr. Johnson and many others, Dodd was hanged in 1777 for forging a bond note.
