Full contemporary red morocco, covers with gilt greek key border, gilt cornerpieces of crowns and flowers, and a large central gilt device combining crown and stars flanked by angels blowing horns, the royal monogram of King George surmounting the gilt letters: "Chapel Royal St. James's"; richly gilt spine, marbled endpapers, a.e.g. Armorial bookplate on front pastedown of "Gilbert Nicholson of the Country of Balrath in the County of Meath", dated 1669; bookplate of "Laurence A. Waldron" on the front free endpaper; and bookplate of "Marino, Killiney" on the rear pastedown, presumably Marino House and Casino, which was built for Lord Charlemont. Spine a little dark, slight rubbing to head and corners, but altogether well-preserved and very pretty. The First edition to include a Preface by Bayly.
