Original leaf tipped-in from an original Franklin publication. Gilt-lettered green cloth. Engraved bookplate on inside cover, else a very fine copy. The original Cato text from which the facsimile pages were made is in the Huntington Library, and was the first Latin classic to be translated and published in the British colonies of North America. The leaf is taken from the Benjamin Franklin edition of "The Church of Scotland Prayer Book," published in Philadelphia in 1745. [BCC: 57]..
