The Hibernian Society of Baltimore was established in 1803 by a group of Irish citizens as an organization to aid the increasing number of Irish immigrants arriving "friendless and forlorn." It continues to this day to honor and promote the Irish heritage of its members. In 1852, the Society resolved "that a committee be appointed to collect, collate, and publish in pamphlet or book form the history of the Society from its organization." After several failed attempts, this history was finally published in 1957, 105 years later. Includes a letter from the Hibernian Society of Baltimore. Green cloth covered boards with gilt title to front board and to spine. Small quarto. Previous owner's signature to front free end page. Foxing to half title page and to rear end page.
