Text in English and French. At head of title: "Les Hospices de Paris et de Londres." This was an unusually complicated case of inheritance and succession. "France ... was the country to whose courts belonged the principal administration of his estate, and his will was brought before the Court of Chancery here by Mr. Wallace ... in aid of the French administration. The universal legacy gave rise to two questions ... 1st, what was the extent, topographically, of the word 'London' as used by the testator; and 2ndly, what institutions were included within the description, 'Les Hospices de Londres'" (1-2).
